While the Goulburn River Valley is well known as a great place to relax and unwind, it’s also one of the best areas in Australia to get out and get going.
With hundreds of kilometres of rail trail winding through the Heart of Victoria, you can explore the region by bike, on foot or even on horseback. Rail trails are a unique way to get active in the region, and experience the natural beauty and terrain.
The Great Victorian Rail Trail meanders through the picturesque Trawool Valley and follows the Goulburn River down tributaries in to Yea and Molesworth before providing trails to Alexandra and Yarck. Experience the many river crossings, lakes, old rail lines, parks, waterfalls and you might be lucky enough to come across some of our local wildlife.
The Dookie Rail Trail offers a completely different experience, with views of the seasonal crops and fertile farmland including the Dookie red loams.
If you are looking for a different style of adventure, pay a visit to the Broadford State Motorcycle Complex and experience recreational or competition motorcycle riding.
Opportunities abound for adventure and activity on the Goulburn River. Take a canoe safari, go for a swim or drop in a line to catch the elusive big one. The Goulburn River is the life line of the Heart of Victoria and offers activity galore!
